I've recently discovered some nice spots across the street from our accommodation in Bangalore. While our apartment is in the middle of the bustling city and you can literally hear traffic at all hours, there is still a nice little slice of peace and quiet nearby. Across the 6 or 7 lane wide Sampige road, there is Bhashyam park. I recently snapped some photos on my iPhone (they are not the best quality but can give you a good idea of what it is like). Here you can see the big trees and nicely maintained plants. It is a funny because literally steps away from it are piles of garbage and yet this spot is kept very immaculate. The big trees
almost muffle the honking from traffic outside.
Bangalore has these funny rabbit garbage bins everywhere - they are not always used despite the fact that they say "USE ME".
Right beside the park is a really good South Indian restaurant called New Krishna Bhavan that was recommended by a coworker. Here is a picture of the classic South Indian dosa as well as some chai. Dosas are sortof pancake-like things made out of rice served with chutney and curries. They can be quiet greasy and can be topped in many ways, sometimes with potato or onion or cheese, making it a yummy treat.
